Why? In
Lent Suggestion #26, we encourage you to consider a Bible Study for your own Lenten journey. Why not do it with a friend or family member? Purchasing a study for someone (and a bible if they do not have one) is a beautiful way to show mercy and compassion for the souls of others. And in truth, we can't just preach the Good News, we are called to
live it. But use caution here; if you're gifting a bible study to someone without ever cracking a bible yourself, it may send the wrong message, unless you plan to do it together.
What to expect? Giving someone the gift of a Bible study may require a delicate approach. Suggesting the idea of doing a bible study together (before giving it as a gift) to assess their openness is highly recommended. It's helpful to remember that studying scripture is like reading God's letter to us about how we are to live this life.
